About Mid-South Christian College

Mid-South Christian College, an institution of Biblical higher education affiliated with the Independent Christian Churches / Churches of Christ, is dedicated to offering quality Christian education in both English and Spanish, serving a diverse community of students. Our faculty and staff are deeply committed to the college's mission, despite

operating on a modest budget supported by individual and church donors. As our current President, Larry Griffin, transitions out of the position of president to focus more on donor relations, we are in search of a new leader who shares our commitment and vision.

 

Job Summary:

The President acts as the chief executive officer and the administrative head of the college under the guidance of the Board of Trustees. This role is the primary liaison between the professional staff and the Board, responsible for implementing policies, managing the college's administrative organization, overseeing financial operations, and representing the college both locally and nationally.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Model authentic Christian living and servant leadership.

  • Work closely with the Board of Trustees to implement policies, advise on policy development, and ensure effective communication.

  • Create and manage the administrative organization, ensuring effective college operations.

  • Oversee financial operations, including budget preparation and implementation.

  • Lead the academic mission, recommending instructional programs and improving educational services.

  • Represent the college among constituents and outside organizations, ensuring accuracy in all required reports.

 

Qualifications:

  • A heart for Christian education and a commitment to the mission of Mid-South Christian College.

  • Active membership in a Restoration Movement church (Independent Christian Church / Church of Christ).

  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish to support our diverse student body.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational or non-profit setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with a Board of Trustees.

  • A visionary leader with a track record of effective team management and organizational development.

This role is pivotal in shaping the academic direction and educational quality of the college, ensuring that our bilingual (English and Spanish) programs reflect our mission and meet the needs of our diverse student body.

As we prepare for the retirement of our current Academic Dean, Robert Griffin, we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to faith, education, and diversity.

 

Job Summary:

The Academic Dean will play a crucial role in leading the academic programs of the college. They will be responsible for curriculum development, faculty supervision, academic planning, and ensuring compliance with legal and accreditation standards. The successful candidate will be a key player in maintaining the college's commitment to its mission through all academic activities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the college's academic programs align with its mission.

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day academic operations.

  • Supervise and support faculty, including recommendations for hiring and retention.

  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies.

  • Coordinate academic scheduling, registration, and student academic progress.

  • Oversee faculty development and professional growth initiatives.

  • Maintain up-to-date records in compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies.

  • Supervise the production of the Academic Catalog and the planning of Commencement Exercises.

 

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) in Theology, Ministry, Educational Philosophy, or a related field.

  • Experience in higher education, with significant classroom experience preferred.

  • Active membership in a Restoration Movement church (Independent Christian Church/Church of Christ).

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor faculty and staff.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively support our diverse community.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
